The Adventures of Red Sonja Omnibus by Eric S Brown

Red Sonja has been a force to be reckoned with in the world of comics since her very first appearance in Conan the Barbarian #23 back in Januray, 1973. Yet, so far her stories have only been  collected in standard hardcovers and trade paperbacks aside from a single omnibus released by Dynamite in 2019. Marvel and DC certainly rule the omnibus market with their giant, well-crafted hardcovers ranging from five hundred to fifteen hundred pages collected in a single, beautiful tome.

The Dynamite Red Sonja Omnibus, which collects Gail Simone’s run on the character, is equal in quality but sized differently to set it apart. That omnibus quickly became a must have for collectors during the Covid 19 boom of the market selling for several times its cover price. Now Sonja fans are getting something even better.

The Adventures of Red Sonja Omnibus is slated for release in July of 2023 with a retail price of $100. Its length will be close to six hundred and fifty pages collecting all Red Sonja’s early tales published by Marvel Comics. It will include 1-15 of her original series, her seven issue run in Marvel Feature, and even select black and white stories from The Savage Sword of Conan magazine.

This omnibus promises to be a must have for any Red Sonja fan. Though the artwork won’t be as sexy as today’s, the art will be both classic and iconic within its pages. And with the bulk of the stories in the omnibus having been written by the legendary Roy Thomas, the omnibus promises to be a great read as well.
