She-Hulk: Jen-Sational by Eric S Brown

The Jen-Sational Volume 1 of She-Hulk picks up directly where Rainbow Rowell’s first run writing the character concludes. It opens with a half page panel of Jack of Hearts and She-Hulk kissing, letting the reader know straight away that Jennifer and Jack are not only still together, but that a lot of fun lies ahead. Rowell’s earlier stories introduced and developed an awesome romantic relationship between the two radiation-born characters that woed readers.

However, Jen-Sational isn’t completely about romance. It has enough action for Marvel fans to thrill to as well. Jennifer’s cousin, Bruce, or rather the Hulk claiming that “Banner” is no longer part of him, shows up. He’s had a stalker following him and believes that it’s Jennifer. Of course it isn’t. The real stalker shows up and a massive battle ensues.

Jen-Sational also features guest appearances by The Thing, Patsy Walker (aka Hellcat), Hellstorm, and Captain Marvel. Patsy and Captain Marvel’s girls’ night out with Jen is wrecked when a pack of demons invades Patsy’s favorite club.

All in all, it’s not quite as good as Rowell’s first volumes on She-Hulk but those set a very high bar. The volume is well worth its $17.99 cover price.
