MTGRemy by Eric S Brown

I will admit, I am very addicted to Magic the Gathering. I started playing way back around the time of the third edition and have been in and out of the game ever since. Recently, I stumbled onto a YouTube Channel entitled MTGRemy. If you’re a Magic fan and haven’t checked out this channel, you’re missing out. It’s pure nerd humor through and through. The channel features an ongoing series of shorts with the cards “Elite Vanguard” and “Fencing Ace” taking on other creatures in Magic. It’s very Monty Python and will certainly make even a non-Magic player grin. But skits aren’t what make the channel a must. It’s the music. The channel features songs like “Wake me Up Before You Combo” (Wham parody), “I’ve played Everything Man” (Johnny Cash parody), and even “Modern Monday” (Bangles parody). As an example of these parodies and what they are, the Michael Jackson song “Black and White” is rewritten into a song about a creature immune to Black and White spells with a rap part of the song that explains the mechanic of protection in MTG. There are quite a few, all super fun and all super deep in MTG mechanics and lore.

MTGRemy is almost as fun as Magic the Gathering itself. Don’t visit it looking for news on what cards to invest in or for any kind of “decktech.” However, if you’re looking for feel-good, nerdy music or a good laugh, it’s the Magic the Gathering channel you need to watch.
