Incredible Hulk by Peter David Omnibus 2 by Eric S Brown

One of the best overlooked runs by causal readers of the Hulk is that of Peter
David. Marvel has collected the run in several omnibus-sized volumes, each with a cover
price of $125 and weighing in at over one thousand pages. The first omnibus deals
entirely with the gray Hulk, which might not be for everyone. The second volume,
however, begins with the gray Hulk and quickly sees Dr. Banner return to his normal
emerald hue, though with the brains to go with his brawn.
Peter David’s writing is almost always above the norm of what a reader can expect
to find within the pages of most comics, and that’s true here. He delves into deep,
emotional issues while managing not to drag the Hulk series into a soap opera-style
book like the Legion of Superheroes. David keeps the action hard and heavy while also
introducing a new group into the Hulk’s life that will forever change it. No longer is
Hulk alone and an outcast. He’s now a part of an organization determined to make the
world a better place.
One can expect many team-ups and battles with longtime allies and foes alike,
including the likes of X-Factor, the U-Foes, the Defenders, and more. The standout
team-up for the omnibus is certainly a two-issue, Las Vegas adventure with the
Punisher!
