Bus Stop

“Vampires? No such thing.” The stranger leaned in close as I scooted to the edge of the bench. “Biggest danger round here’s the bus being late.” With a chuckle, he stretched his long legs, twining his pale, slender fingers together.
“I can’t keep waiting.” I jumped to my feet, wringing my hands. “If I leave now, I might make it to the station in time for my train .”
Footsteps echoed mine as I scurried down the sidewalk. Behind me, the man still sat on the bench, hands in his pockets. Between us, a woman strolled in my direction, eyes glowing a pale yellow.
